Story of a Goddess

at Angkor Wat

Explore more than 1,200 square meters of carved bas reliefs of Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world in Siem Reap Cambodia. A knowledgeable guide can help provide context for the 8 different hindu stories represented. While most visitors are only familiar with Angkor Wat, the Angkor Archaeological Park contains the remains of the different capitals of the Khmer Empire from the 9th to the 15th century and includes Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and the Bayon Temple.

Grand Scale Art

in Spain

The public sculpture created by Jeff Koons greets visitors to the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao Spain. Composed of stainless steel and flowering plants, the imposting yet playful sculpture is beautifully organic against the shimmering steel of the Frank Gehry architectural masterpiece. The building, made of titanium, limestone and glass, is recognized as one of the most important architectural achievements of the 20th century. A visit to Bilbao is easy from a homebase of San Sebastián, a town with more Michelin stars per square meter than anywhere in the world.

Culinary Adventure in Thailand

An Amazing culinary holiday awaits at a resort located 1.5 hours from Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand.  In this luxurious home-stay resort, you will learn all about traditional Thai cuisine. Wake before dawn to bike into the local market with a chef and prepare the evening meal with a hands-on cooking lesson.

Additional Inspiration

Biking in Northern Italy

The late Fall in Northern Italy offers crisp temperatures but few crowds.  We love finding a small village to stay in to explore this remarkable food and wine haven.

Epcot Food & Wine Festival

Our family makes three trips to Disney a year.  We craft days that optimize time in the park while avoiding overload.

Biking to the Local Market in Phrao

One of my favorite cooking experiences.  Spend two nights, three days at a cooking school in Phrao Thailand.  Wake before dawn to bike through rural countryside  on the way to a local market with a chef.

Ceviche

at La Mar

Lima Peru may not be the most beautiful city in the world, but it is one of the best places for food lovers.  A weekend in Lima before a trip to Machu Picchu will open up your senses to some of the best food on the planet.

Grafitti in Valparaiso, Chile

Valparaiso, an hour west of Santiago is one of those places frozen in time.  The charming coastal town built on a hill has everything from one of Pablo Neurda's homes to a graffiti walking tour as well as some of our favorite boutique hotels in Chile.

Mahout Experience, Golden Triangle

A favorite - Anantara Elephant Camp in the Golden Triangle, Thailand.  Their Mahout For a Day adventure is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Praia de Pipa

Brazil

Our favorite beach in Brazil is Praia de Pipa near the city of Natal.  A small paradise with fantastic food, precious beaches where you can swim with dolphin and of course enjoy famous Brazlian Caipirinhas.

The Archives,

Washington D.C.

A long weekend in D.C. is a great trip for families. Our itineraries combine fun - like the Spy Museum - with some history - Smithsonian exhibit on the Wright Brothers - followed by some literature - America Reads exhibit at the Library of Congress. The day's experiences will spark great conversations for your family.

Atacama Desert,

Chile

The Atacama Desert in Northern Chile is an outdoor adventure not known to many in North America.  The landscape is unlike anywhere else and offers diverse terrain that includes giant sand dunes and flat lagoons filled with flamingos. Evening offers some of the clearest skies for star gazing - home to the world's most notable observatories.
